THEO

The THEO project is an Erasmus+ SPORT initiative funded by the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) and coordinated by the Spanish School for Rescue and Detection with Dogs (ESDP), under grant agreement number 101185240.

For ESDP, THEO represents a major milestone, as it is the first project in which we take on the responsibility of moving from consortium partner to coordinator.

The project brings together 8 partners from 5 European countries:

  • Spain: Spanish School for Rescue and Detection with Dogs (ESDP) as coordinator, and Actividades Alternativas (ACAL)
  • Portugal: Municipality of Lousada
  • Italy: Coda di Lupo and USMA Padova
  • Türkiye: INONU University and Spell
  • Greece: KEAN Youth Activities
OBJECTIVES

THEO

THEO is a pioneering project that promotes exercising with dogs as a structured and enjoyable physical activity. It integrates therapy and movement into daily routines, encouraging a healthier lifestyle for both humans and animals. By fostering interaction between people and dogs, THEO aims to:

  • Encourage daily physical activity as a fun and inclusive approach.
  • Improve mental well-being and reduce social isolation
  • Strengthen the human-animal bond through responsibility and care
  • Promote structured dog-assisted exercise programs in schools, shelters, and communities
  • Develop accessible digital tools (e-book, video game, web resources) to educate and engage diverse audiences

The project runs for 24 months, starting in November 2024 and ending in October 2026.

OBJECTIVES

THEO

THEO es un proyecto pionero que promueve el ejercicio con perros como una actividad física estructurada y agradable. Integra la terapia y el movimiento en las rutinas diarias, fomentando un estilo de vida más saludable tanto para las personas como para los animales. Al incentivar la interacción entre personas y perros, THEO tiene como objetivos:

  • Fomentar la actividad física diaria como una práctica divertida e inclusiva.
  • Mejorar el bienestar mental y reducir el aislamiento social.
  • Fortalecer el vínculo humano-animal mediante la promoción de la responsabilidad y el cuidado.
  • Promover programas de ejercicio estructurado con perros en escuelas, refugios y comunidades.
  • Desarrollar herramientas digitales accesibles (e-book, videojuego, recursos web) para educar e involucrar a audiencias diversas.

El proyecto tiene una duración de 24 meses, comenzando en noviembre del 2024 y finalizando en octubre del 2026.
